What are some mind blowing myths that sound like truth but are actually false?

Myth 1: The Great Wall of China is the only man made structure visible from space

This is wrong as there are many man made objects that can be seen as we elevate to space, but astronauts have confirmed that a few thousand miles into space no man made object can be seen.

Below is the satellite image of the great wall of China. The most prominent seen here is the river and not the wall. The wall runs diagonally from lower left to upper right.

Myth 2: Red Color enrages a Bull

Bulls are color blind to Red color. They get irritated by the movement of the cape and the perceived threat from the matador and not from the color

Myth 3: Swallowed Chewing gum takes 7 years to digest

A chewing gum when swallowed is literally indigestible and just passes away through the intestine. So it is myth that it will take 7 years to digest.

Myths 4: Bats are Blind

Bats are not blind, they have eyes and can see through it. The use echolocation to travel fast in the dark.

Myth 5: Shaving makes hair grow back thicker and darker

No — shaving hair doesn’t change its thickness, color or rate of growth.

Myth 6: Spicy food causes Peptic Ulcer

There is no direct evidence to prove or has ever been proved that Peptic ulcer and Spicy food are directly co-related

Myth 7: Thomas Alva Edison Invented the light Bulb

Thomas Alva Edison did not invent the light bulb instead it was Joseph Swan who invented the light Bulb

Myth 8: Learning styles

All humans learn the same way and there is no definitive evidence that people learn based on different learning styles

Myth 9: Hair and Fingernails grow after death

Hair and fingernails do not continue to grow after a person dies. Rather, the skin dries and shrinks away from the bases of hairs and nails, giving the appearance of growth

Myth 10: Antibiotics cure Common Cold

Antibiotics cannot cure common cold as that is caused by a virus. Infact it can be detrimental by increasing bacterial resistance due to repeated exposure.
